Wahoo
The Wahoo is of the same family as the barracuda. It can be catch all the year round. It can be catch not far from the reef and near debris floating at the surface of the water. The weight mostly varies from 10-80 pounds.

Dorado
The Dorado, also known as Mahi-Mahi is a good fighter one the line.  They can be catch all the year round.  The weight normally varies from 12-50 pounds. It is a fish well appreciated for its flesh

Skipjack tuna
They are abundant in the region. Caught all the year round. They are very strong fish and nice to fight on light tackle. The local record is 41 pounds skipjack tuna on a line of 50 pounds..

Mackerel Bonito
The mackerel bonito can be captured all over the year but is more abundant in summer mostly from December to February. The weight varies from 2 to 20 pounds.

Blue Marlin
The blue marlin can be captured all year round.  But the best period is from October to April.  The biggest specimen caught in Mauritius is of 1434 lbs.  Most marlins caught are around 200 - 500 lbs.

Black Marlin
The Black Marlin is a great fighter.  It can be caught all year round.  But the best period is during summer.  The average weight caught is of 400 pounds.

White fine and Black fine shark
The black fine and the white fine shark can measure up to 3 meters.  The skin colour goes from dark gray to a white belly.  This shark lives in groups.  They can sometimes be seen at the surface and can be found at up to 800 meters.  This kind of shark lives near reefs and under water cliffs where fish is abundant.  They can be catch during all the year and the weight may vary from 100 - 300 pounds.

Baracuda
The barracuda is a great predator which lives close to the reef. It can be catch all the year round

Yellow fine tuna
The yellow fine tuna can be caught all the year round. The weight varies from 5 to 200 pounds. The big specimens are abundant in March and April.

Dogtooth tuna
Dogtooth tuna are generally found close to the reefs. The biggest specimen caught in Mauritius is of 230 pounds.

Sail fish
The sail fish travels generally in school of up 20 individuals.  They can be caught in winter as well as in summer.  But the best period is in winter.
 
Spearfish
The spear fish is a good fighter when caught on light tackle. The best period is in from October to February. The weight varies from 30 to 60 pounds.
 
Hammerhead shark
The Hammerhead shark can be caught all the year round. The weight generally varies from 125 - 600 pounds. They are abundant from august to November

Mako shark
The Mako shark is a good fighter and can be caught all the year round.  The biggest specimen caught in Mauritius weights 1115 pounds.

Tiger shark
The tiger shark is an amazing predator and a good fighter.  The Mauritian record weights 1218 pounds.
